XP Dial-Up Error

When I select Control Panel,  Phone and Modems Option, I receive the error message:

Phone and modem control panel cannot be opened, you may have a problem starting telephony service.

Ideas??

Did you ever resolve your problem with the Phone and Modem Control Panel applet???  If so, how???

I had the same problem and went in and to computer management, services and started the telephony service.  Hint, I did have to right click on the service, select properties and change the start up to automatic before it would let me start the service.  Viola, problem was fixed.
