I found a discussion thread that describes this problem exactly. The first poster suggests that the problem began after installing certain updates for XP Service Pack 1. Unfortunately, what updates were installed isn't described, and there's no report that the problem was resolved.
Unfortunately, (like you said) I see no solution. Act says not there problem and MS says not there's. Now the question is, "how does one find the solution or fix?".
I belive that you are not selecting the option to "Reconnect on startup" When you mapped the folder there should be a checkbox for that. Make sure its checked.. Hope that works Elliott

Here's the thread, for what it's worth. The site is very slow to load! A thread referenced in one of the postings at pcbanter.net contains several posts with slightly varying symptoms, but again no resolution.
