Can't say for sure, and wizard I'm not, but there have been a number of issues surrounding wireless and NIC's that SP2 may address to. In fact some of the latest drivers are specifically for SP2. Any reason you have not updated to SP2 yet? I resolved WiFi connectivity issue with the TM 1150, CPU loading shooting to 89% on attempting connection, by simply updating my XP Pro to SP2. SInce upgrading my mpci card to 802.11b/g with the Intel 2200 pro, found problems with it until I updated drivers which are for SP2 as well.
I've having a similar issue- maybe a little different. My Windows XP pro SP2 boots up fairly quickly. However, after i login, it takes between one and three minutes before i have any network connectivity (on both LAN & Wifi).
I just reinstalled my D600 - XP SP2. I installed all patches / updates as the Dell reinstall guide lays out. I installed all drivers (except Intel Wireless 2100) and then installed Mcafee Virusscan Enterprise 8.0i. Everything is fine until i installed the Intel wireless 2100 driver/app. Now it takes a long time before I get any network connectivity. I also see that it takes 1-3 min before virusscan enables itself.
