XPS-435T, Vista 64, NET VIEW COMPUTERNAME problem
Is anyone on a network (LAN) on an XPS Studio 435T? If you open a COMMAND PROMPT and enter "NET VIEW" do you see your computer?
My computers name is "IRV-XPS435". I cannot see it in NET VIEW. The IP Address is 192.168.1.103. Here is a capture of some commands I issued :
//////////////////////////////////////////////
C:\Users\Irv>net view

\\LINKSYSWRT350N LinksysWRT350N <=== Router

If I go to the other machine (wife's) and issue "net view \\irv-xps435" a 53 error results, however "net view \\192.168.1.103" works.
In addition, one can NOT do a NET SHARE unless using the IP Address form, but even then, the share gets access denied on XP, on Vista gets a syntax error.
Anyone else see this?
Suggestions on how to fix?
Vista Home Prem. 64 bit SP2 installed.
