congratulations box
I've just got a new Inspiron 1545 laptop, and everything was working just fine, but now all of a sudden when I start Internet Explorer a " congratulations on your recent purchase of a Dell computer preconfigured with Windows Live" box comes up everytime Eplorer is started. Its wasn't doing this before and I don't know how to fix it. Any info would be great!! Thanx

You are screwed, rick! (and so am I, I have the same problem)
This SUCKS!
Has to do with the way Dell implemented their "Microsoft is Great" message.
See wikianswers. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_get_rid_of_Congratulations_on_your_recent_purchase_of_a_Dell_Computer_preconfigured_with_Windows_Live
In a nutshell, there's no way to get rid of the message unless you lower your IE security saettings to allow cookies, then go to dell.msn.com.
After that you can reset security. But each time you "clean" cookies this will reoccur.
Also, as soon as you "go" to msn.com it will reset your home page to dell.msn.com.
Also see http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1528415&page=6
So I suppose that we need to stay away from MSN.COM *AND* DELL.MSN.COM!!!
THIS IS A DELL ISSUE. Should be fixed by them.
Dell???

Try closing the browser, clearing your internet cache (Control Panel/Internet Options, click the Delete button under 'Browsing History'), then downloading/installing IE 8 afresh?
Make sure the browser 'homepage' is set to your preferred URL as well :emotion-55:
