Drivers and utilities disk
My computer no longer is starting up so I was thinking of formatting my computer. One of the disks I recieved wit the dell is the Drivers and Utilities disk. IT says its a dvd for reinstalling Dell Inspiron 531 computer software. Contents: device drivers and diagonistics and utilities. If I formatted the computer would this disk be able to reinstall vista and the things that came with my dell?

You would be better trying lots of other things first. Try booting to your Vista installation dvd. It is not the drivers disk you mention. It says "operating system." If you are still under warranty, contact Dell before you do anything. If you're not under warranty-- Follow the steps for your OS and computer by using this guide.

If you don't have the Dell Vista reinstallation disc, you should be able to request a set of backup discs containing the factory-installed operating system from HERE.
