Intel Graphics driver update reduces WEI!
I recently updated the graphics driver (Intel 965) of my Studio laptop with the latest driver from the Intel website hoping to improve the Windows Experience Index. However, I was surprised to see the score reduced intead.
It is quite strange to see that the Graphics and Gaming graphics subscores have been reduced by installing the latest drivers recommended by Intel. Does this mean that the performance of the laptop has actually been reduced? Has anyone come across the same 'experience'? Kindly throw some light if you know why. Thanks!

There is a lot of controversy over whether the WEI really means much. If the PC is operating the way it did before and you don't notice any difference then I wouldn't worry about it. However, if there is an obvious change then revert back to the old video driver.
You have to look at what the new driver actually did. Many times driver updates are issued for specific problems or to support new hardware and if the problem is not applicable to your PC or software then there is no need to install the update.
