KEYBOARD LOGIN PROBLEM

Hi,

I have run into a couple of problems and hope you can help.

1. The keyboard is not responding but the mouse is. I have changed batteries and no change. I can open the easy access and use the onscreen keyboard, but still get the below error.

2. Logging on to the start screen (Login) I get "User Service Profile Failed"

I am responding from a seperate laptop.

Thanks for your assistance.

J.D.

Lets get started.

I found the User manual online HERE

<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>

, but were going to focus on the keyboard troubleshooting part for this step .

I want you to go through all of the steps you see in the trouble shooting part and be sure to follow the directions to the T as they are very important to you.

Here is a copy of its contect just in case you are unable to see or open the troubleshooting page (just in case)

If you have already done them, please do them again and pay special attention to following the steps throughout. (once again just in case)

If you have problems with your keyboard:

  1. Verify that the batteries are new and properly inserted and that the keyboard is turned on.
  2. Remove and reinsert the receiver.
  3. If you still have a problem, restart your computer.
  4. If you still have a problem, re-establish the connection manually. Press and release the Bluetooth buttons on the keyboard and on the receiver. Wait at least 20 seconds.
  5. If you lose your connection after logon, follow the Connection Wizard's on-screen instructions to re-establish a connection.

If you need to enter Safe mode or the BIOS settings:

  1. Turn off your computer, in the standard way.
  2. Turn on your computer, and then immediately and repeatedly press the appropriate F key to do the following:
    • F2 to start the BIOS utility.
    • F8 to review the troubleshooting and advanced startup options such as Safe Mode.
    • F12 to select a temporary boot device

It's a Bluetooth from Dell that came with the system. It's a model  Y-RAQ-DEL2.

Great, Thanks.

My receiver is internal not USB, but I managed to refind the Bluetooth Sync button and have the Keybaord back up and running.

Next, on to the password problem. I have tried to remove the previous password by moving the jumper on the PSWD connection from 2-3 to 1-2, with no success per the operators manual on pages 193-196.

Awaiting your instructions

Im having great dificulty finding viable software for your hardware, It also looks like it just became discontinued.

Are you trying to reset your bluetooth password? or are you resetting your secure connection between the keyboard and mouse?

Do you have Setpoint software Up and running?

If SetPoint isn't running, you can restart it by selecting from the Start menu, All Programs, SetPoint, Settings.

I do have a separate account for my wife but it is not accessable from the login page. I would like to repair the account if possible, not 100% sure of the program names

 on that page.

This guide will be used to unlock the account in question, furthermore I will have you activate the Real administrator account in vista to have in the backround just in case anything haptens.

I have never used any 3rd party vista unlocking programs thus I cannot recommend any to you in fear that they can be harmfull.

Lets start.

If you have the real administrator account already activated then we should reboot the computer into Safe Mode by shuting it down and starting it back up, while it starts up keep pressing the F8 Key to activate Windows Option menu and the chose Boot In Safe Mode.

Once booted into safe mode you can begin following the steps described in the guide on "OPTION ONE" or just say that you are booted in safe mode and I will help out.

If you run into any problems do not hesitate, I will try to help you best I can.

Ok, Lets take care of that for you!.

If  you dont have any extra user accounts on the start up screen, we are going to create a new one from scratch.

But before we continue im going to present you with 2 options, Repairing the old user account or delete the old account but you will need to re create shortcuts for all of the programs you have installed.

I will wait for your reply and am ready to guide to.

Also, I need to know what Operating system you are using, do you have acess to a 2nd computer or a printer so you can read the instructions and repair the in question machine.

Sorry for the laggy responses but do keep in mind its 11 pm here I am and its nearing lights out time for me but I will keep going untill solved, I am glad to help some one out.

I just went into user profiles and removed my password. Will that fix the problem? I don't necessarily need one.
