Mouse stopped functioning

I recently purchased a Dell laptop. It was pre-installed with windows 7. A few days ago, the mouse (not Dell mouse) suddenly stopped working. I restarted the computer and the mouse was back to normal. But today it again suddenly stopped working. I tried the same method, that is, to reboot the computer. But this time it didn't work. I used 'Find and fix problems' to help me fix the problem. The error message showed 'Unknown device'. I changed it to a different mouse, and it still couldn't be identified. But both mouses worked on the another computer. Also I occasionally had problems with the power adapter. A few times, when I plugged it to a power source, I got error message saying that the adapter's rating couldn't be determined and so it might not charge properly, or things like that. But other times, when I plugged it to the same power source, there was no problem at all. I wondered if this was due to virus, but I ran virus detecting program, and there was no virus detected. I need to use this computer for long hours each day. So I desperately need to get these problems fixed. Any help is greatly appreciated.   Sincerely, Wei Wen

As you have several problems with a new PC, it would be best to contact Dell Support, as it's still under warranty.  Both of these problems could just be software or both could be hardware related.
