trouble installing 3rd party software

I recently bought software from a company that I cannot install. The company's tech dept. has tried everything to help me and said I'm the first Vista client they could not help. Said I should call Dell but they want $129 to solve the problem.

Can anyone advise me on what to do. This is very frustrating. When I hit setup to install the software, it shows that it is unzipping but then the spinning icon just fades away and nothing happens. It appears that something is blocking the install.

Thanks

The software is called Backroom Technician and it is from a company called Advisys. They've tried everything they could to get it to work and cannot find the reason. It is on my Dell Inspiron 530 and it is a Vista operating system.

Thanks for your reply.

I personally prefer to decompress any compressed software first, rather than just clicking on the file, and allowing the program to decompress the files.

That way, I can decompress the files where I want them, and I don't have to wait for them to be decompressed, each and every time I want/need to reinstall the program :emotion-55:

So that's one idea.  My only other suggestion, is to try booting into Safe Mode, then installing the software?
