Windows Media Player

I cannot open my windows media player unless I insert a disc and select that i want to burn a disc. if I click on the icon on my desktop it will not open. how can i fix this? i went to the "fix it" wizard through microsoft here is the link  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925704/en-us#FixItForMe it worked once for me then its never worked again. if I go into my husbands user account I have no problem opening it up. Any advise?
