2000-0151 error code

Helping a neighbor.... her Dell Optiplex seemed to be trying to download Windows updates and wasnt able to complete the download sonthe ckmouter would uninstall, then turn on and start trying to load again.  It got caught in this loop.

I had it run a test because safe boot didnt seem to be an option.  During the test, we got the 2000-0151 error message.

Error code: 2000-0151

Hard drive 1- incorrect status. 3E no additional sense information.

Anyone know what the issue is or whether it can be fixed? This is an old computer so it may be a bad hard drive....

Error Code 2000-0151 means the Drive is Toast if it has Msg:Hard Drive 0 but it can also mean the optical drive is in Incorrect Status aka there was no disk in the optical drive when the test was run. So you have to give more complete information including a validation code. Hard drive 1 is not the boot drive.

Error code: 2000-0151 incorrect status 32, no additional sense information.

PSA+ 2000-0151 Hard Drive (d): – Incorrect status: (x) (s) Remove and reinstall the Hard Drive

This means the drive is dead or dying and the PSA cannot find an OS on the drive.

Could be hard drive, or could be the controller on the motherboard.  I would try another drive and if that doesn't work it is most likely a motherboard problem.

Considering the relatively low price of used/refurbished Optiplexes that are being sold, I wouldn't put much in the old one.
