I have a Dell optiplex 3010 with an i5 3470 and a gtx 1650 im planning to upgrade the CPU to an i7 2600 will going back a generation prevent the PC from working?

chino is spot on.
otoh, very little (3%) benefit from i5-3470 to i7-2600 for gaming. do not be swayed by the notion that i7 is significantly better than i5. both cpu bottleneck the gtx 1650.
