5050, fitting a second SSD

Question

I need to fit a second 2.5' SSD drive to my Dell Optiplex 5050 desk-top as a backup for the main drive and I’m having difficulty deciding which caddy I require to purchase. The Optiplex is fitted with a metal housing that will take two small drives, one being fitted at present. The power lead fitted to the drive has two connectors in a Y configuration so that will work with the second drive. The computer also came with a spare blue data lead that appears similar to that used by the present drive so all I should need to fit the new drive will be an actual caddy to hold the drive. Now I ‘think’ that the caddy I need is an X9FV3 but I would appreciate confirmation. I fitted some additional RAM in the Optiplex a few days ago and I should have had a better look at the drive and the caddy it was in. Do the SSD drives merely click into the caddy and does it make any different to what SATA socket on the main board I plug the second drive into ? Any help would be appreciated.

Desktop is not a size.

Sounds like you have the Mini Tower. Which looks like the 3650 to me.

So I would say yes X9FV3 is correct.

My apologies...my OptiPlex 5050 is a tower. I have looked on the net and seen a couple of different part numbers for the caddy, thanks for confirming the caddy is an X9FV3. I will get one ordered. Thanks again for your quick reply.
