7050, USB UEFI Stick boot
Hi !
First, i would like to say sorry for my bad english because i’m french. We received 30 Optiplex 7050 in our office recently.
I need to modify some settings in the UEFI to have this :
- disable secure boot
- UEFI -> Legacy BIOS
- Sata : Raid On -> AHCI
- boot PXE enable
- first boot : hard disk
- Wake On Lan : enable
- Password BIOS modification enable
I know i can’t disable Secure boot with Dell Command&Configure but i try to have less manipulations : my idea is : boot on a UEFI USB Stick on a WinPE and run an preconfigured .exe with good settings (created with Dell Configure ?).
After the reboot, i will use my deployement tool to deploy my image.

Where is my mistake ? Maybe during the process of USB stick creation ?

Try making a Windows 2 Go Stick using specific Sandisk SSD and USB3 port.

The Trick here is that you need to use a Macbook like the user does to make the 10 ISO.

When you go to the ISO site with a macbook it allows you to download a bootable WIN10 ISO. The other catch not mentioned is that Rufus does not offer to make a windows 2 go drive unless you are running from windows 10. No such option appears if you are using windows 7 or 8.
Rufus DOES NOT RUN under Linux or Unix or MACOS.
Nor does it run under WINE.

This is not something theoretical its something I have done.
If you go there with windows it forces you to download the TOOL instead of the ISO directly.

Lon even shows in his video that he is making windows 2 go for his macbook.
I own a macbook and an Alienware Steam Machine and the Sandisk device in his video.
If you don't own a mac get a friend to download the ISO and save to a usb flash drive that is formatted EXFAT.

As far as what OP is trying to do ... I bet he could have loaded and setup 30 machines the conventional way by now. :Smile:

The ISO files are only good so long. I had 1511 then 1603 then 1703 then 1709 now 1803.
I use the windows 10 update assistant to FORCE an upgrade to 1809 because that ISO is not available yet.
What Lon does in his video is not theoretical. I have the hardware he has in his video and it works exactly as it does in the video.
Once you get these specific ISO you can use rufus to make 16 gig or 32 gig flash drive into bootable windows installer on a flash drive.

Thanks for the answer.
I don't need MACBOOK. Because, with a Ubuntu Distro or Linux, i can download the ISO.
But, i already have an ISO .... :)
Now, i can create a Windows To Go USB Stick.
And what is the next step ?

Windows 2 go is NOT OFFERED as an option unless you run Rufus FROM WITHIN WINDOWS 10. Windows 7 or 8 will only offer to make a win10 installer USB flash.
There is support for all of this from Microsoft and Dell and 3rd Party's.
It is not however Free.

Iso's downloaded from windows machines lack the ability to boot UEFI.
Since there is no such thing on a macbook they give you the ability to download 32 bit or 64 bit ISO and burn a DVD so that you can install Bootcamp and dual boot.
