7060 micro WiFi cards?

I am trying to locate which wi-fi 6 cards can work on the 7060 micro.

Per the manual:

  • Qualcomm QCA61x4A Dual-band 2x2 802.11ac Wireless with MU-MIMO + Bluetooth 4.2
  • Intel Wireless-AC 9560, Dual-band 2x2 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MU-MIMO + Bluetooth 5

I have found conflicting information for anything else, and very little specific to the 7060 micro.

i prefer to go with the M.2 as opposed to a USB dongle.

Thank you in advance!

Both of the cards you mentioned from manual are Wifi 5 with standard AC wireless technology.  If you want Wifi 6, search for wireless cards with AX wireless technology such as Intel AX200.

@Chino de Oro

Thank you for your quick response!

If I understand correctly, I am looking for a type E key or A/E key ax200 or ax210 series?

for example:

quote ejn63

standard M.2 card using a two-antenna setup will work fine, other than the ones requiring CNVio support (i.e., if Intel avoid the cards with a "1" in the model number -- such as AX201, AX211, etc.).  The AX200, 210, etc. will work.

You are correct, a type E or type A/E card will be compatible and work with your system.  Note that the card alone may not providing you with the max performance it is capable of.  You will need a matching network that can provide the bandwidth connection and the support system OS with proper driver.

Thank you all for your patience and quick replies!

For whatever reason, I got all hung up on the CNVi portion and simply could not understand which options were available.

I believe my confusion originated with my misunderstanding of the “OptiPlex 7060 Micro
Setup and specifications guide”

  • 1 - 2230 (keyed to support Integrated or Discrete WiFi, Support Intel CNVi or USB2.0/PCIe)

Further reading on the Intel site revealed compatibility issues between CNVi and CNVi2 (not backward compatible), which renders the AXxx1 cards unusable (CNVi2).

To make it simple, purchase the wireless card with 0 at the end.  Those have full functions hardware.  The cards with model number ending with 1 is considered dependent cards.  Those are cheaper to make and rely on the functions from compatible CPU because parts of the functions are located on the CPU.

and to also install the drivers first, before installing the card, to minimize headache.

No need.  Windows 10/11 will install proper driver and configure your network settings, assuming you have internet connection through ethernet.  The manual part you may have to do is to open the network and internet settings, select wireless properties and assign it as a private network, not public.
