7080 Mt front usb-c port

Good evening

Just got an Optiplex 7080 Mt and I was hoping to use a dock which I already use with my laptop. The dock is a Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Dock Gen2 (40AN) which should fall back to usb-c if the host is not Thunderbolt capable.

I tried using the usb-c port on the front but the dock is not picked up at all. Is the usb-c port on the front of this machine not capable of dock support?

I did see another post somewhere that alluded this might be the case and only things like flash drives, keyboards and mice work with it.

I can also see there is a daughterboard available for the rear of the machine that adds a usb-c port, would this be dock capable? It only needs to connect one monitor and a keyboard and mouse etc as well as a couple of backup drives.
