Boot error when installing Windows 10 on Optiplex 3020

I recently attempted to reinstall windows 10 on my OptiPlex 3020, but it corrupted so I have to do a clean install. I made a bootable usb with rufus,(x64 bit installation, gpt, fat32.).

When I try to boot onto it using f12, it gives me an error saying, "selected boot device failed. press any key to reboot."

I have UEFI boot on, and secure boot, but the usb drive only reads in legacy mode for some reason.

I'm not sure if the problem lies in the USB drive, or the computer, but any and all help would be appreciated!

Instead of using Rufus to make a bootable USB drive, go to Microsoft and download the media creation tool. That will create a USB with the Windows 10 installation files and it will be bootable without the need for a 3rd party software approach.

1. Agreed

2. Because it is "Microsoft blessed". There are very few "Authorized Boot-Kits".

Thanks! For some reason, I got an error when using the media creation tool, which is why I switched to rufus, but upon retrying, it worked perfectly fine.
