CD-ROM Drive nowhere to be found
Hi! I recently got a Optiplex Desktop with a CD-ROM drive. Today, when I went to load in one of my disks, it didn't show a pop-up saying that it successfully loaded and what I plan to do with it. Odd.
So I went into file explorer>My PC and found out soonly after that here was no signs of a CD drive anywhere. My PC
I searched through forums and noticed that people said to go to "Device Management" and uninstall the driver. SO, I went to that setting.. and found out, again, soonly after that there was no sign of a CD ROM configuration anywhere.Device Management
What should I do about this? Sorry if I got any names/definitions wrong, I'm not good with tech stuff!

Shutdown, then check the cables to this drive. Especially the power cable. Unplug and reseat them. They may have been disturbed at some point.
You can also look at the bios settings to see if it shows up there, but I doubt it will. The drive may have died. Is it new, or used?

In F2 BIOS, you might have to turn on all of the SATA ports and see if your DVD drive shows up then. Upon restart, you will get an error msg. for any SATA ports turned on and not in use. Simply turn those back off. In BIOS, you'll see which SATA ports have items hooked up to them. You might even see your DVD drive in BIOS before a restart.

no PC stated just optiplex.?
the PC BIOS needs to have all SATA ports on. (to begin, adding drives do that)
the DRive can be bad, does the eject button on the drive work?
the drive needs 2 cables. power and data if not it will be dead, REseat all cables to IT and both ends of SATA.
turn on the PC, if the eject button is dead the drive is bad.
the turn on all sata ports in BIOS.
when windows can see it. in disk managment first. look there first.
keep in mind old drives can be dead, you sad CD so that is old if all that does is CD.
super old, if only CD. 2 decades old.
what drive is it, full name of drive and model. off the sticker.
