Changing cpu on Dell Optiolex
Hello Dell community, I want to change my Dell Optiplex 3040 processor from an i5-6500 to an i3-7100. All the sockets are the same. First of all, would it be possible to do this change and secondly, where is the processor located on the motherboard. Cheers

It's not stated the form factor/size of your 3040.
CPU is normally located behind heatsink and fan.
The 3040 is limited to 6the gen CPU. This is due to chipset. So the i3-7100 unfortunately is a no.
