Dell 7010 MT Time date set up configuration error
Hi
I bought used optiplex 7010 MT the problem is with time & date setting I have replaced the CMOS battery with two new ones ,changed the Rams ,tried with another power supply but the time & date is not stored in bios when I plugged the Power cable it restores the default time ..another thing I tried is to downgrade the bios version from A24 to A29 but it didnt work so I again upgrade to A29 . I have also checked system diagnostic it doesnt work first but after I correct the time & date it worked & says no error Kindly reply me with some technical suggestion not the old typical ''replace the CMOS battery'' Because I have done this the battery is new & has 3.3 V which is ok I have also looked closely at main board caps they are not swollen or looks bad the board is in very fine condition . Again I 'll appreciate some out of the box solution if you dont have please don't write any thing
Regards

For the CMOS battery, you may want to check, test the battery holder for any damage or disconnection from motherboard circuit trace.
For the BIOS firmware, a downgrade is blocked if either Secure Boot is on or if Computrace has been activated. It has to do with the security rules and protecting machines from malicious attacks, if a user wishes to downgrade he/she must first ensure both of these are disabled or off.

When it comes to system time error, not much you can check but the power (battery), firmware (BIOS), and the RTC reset. If none of that could fix, one can always blame on the unknown, bad motherboard.
Some users did asked for suggestions after have tried "everything" and still managed to find the very basic solution that was overlooking.

I think by "RTC reset" Chino means: How to Perform a BIOS or CMOS Reset and Clear the NVRAM on Dell Computers and use the jumper method.

I thought there 'll be some answers already not written or posted But I think no expert even from dell can answer All the replies are typical battery related no matter how much you requested to not post . I wish some one could write some sensible answer . after reading my post where I ''Clearly mentioned '' that I have thoroughly checked & tested all the solutions including etc ...etc..
More disappointment form Dell that they don't have any other solution except battery change or reset while these so called expert paid by Dell earn thousands of Dollars from Company. Look at this post there must similar to this unresolved

There is no one on this thread mentioned battery but you. The original post already indicated that the battery was not a problem. But you also determined that no back up power to keep time & date settings. Since there is no problem with motherboard power, there should be an open circuit from the relay that switch between the board power and the backup battery. The suggestion was to test the circuit traces from the socket to CMOS power relay for open circuit. You can't test electrical circuit by eyeballing it.
If you do not know how to test or you can not find where the power got disconnected, then you have to accepted it and use the system the way it is. The board is over ten years old and is normal to become faulty. Some people will try to fix the disconnection, while some others will just replace the board.
Expert or not, there is no one can fix an open circuit on a faulty board with words.
You already knew the value of your system. It's declared End of Life many years ago and is no longer eligible for support. It does not matter if you are asking for FREE help or asking from the thousands dollars experts, you are going to get the answer you didn't want to hear. Computer clock or real clock, when there is no power, everyone is going to tell you to check for power. It's a basic and logical, no inside or outside of a box.
Although you already exhausted in testing but could not find where the clock lose its power, I do not suggest to replace the faulty mainboard as it is not worthy to invest any more money into it. For less than 70 bucks, you can get a complete and newer Windows 10 system. Example as below.

Very much thanks for your answer ..which obviously don't need . I don't know how Dell pays you ..But It clearly seems its not working writing this long post is almost complete wastage of your time & internet we as customers are here to consult not to impress ..As I already wrote There are many issues left unresolved because there wasn't any proper answers just stupid replies which no body cares to read & for your End of Support argument Ask the dell to ban the people from writing legacy products post I hope they will definitely do that because if they don't people wouldn't stop asking because it's their product

Like any other contributors on the forum, I don't get pay. Just try to help out others however small the issues. Many do appreciate the helps even if it couldn't fix their issues because they see the help with good intentions.
Can't speak for you though. Besides demeaning and judging others, yet expecting to receive FREE help, did you offer to give any of your knowledge?

@Raza05
Resetting BIOS via the jumper method has nothing to do with the battery.
