Dell Optiplex 3020 sff front io upgrade
I've been working on a Dell Optiplex 3020 sff for a week now and I've noticed the front panel has stickers covering extra usb slots and lights. I was wondering if it is possible to put an Optiplex 9020 sff front io module in to replace the current one.

Just a comment on Dell model to model compatibility. Dell tends to customize cases, motherboards and power supplies to just what was ordered on a particular model. Thus, again for example, even between same models there can be different power supplies with specific power leads, motherboards that can vary on the amount of I/O connections are available, etc.
Thus its "take your chance" on using parts from another model even same models.

I assume the stickers are original dell labels? Or could they be the doing of a previous owner?
I can't imagine why dell would cover the indicator lights, but who knows; lots of things dell does don't make any sense to us peons.
Try peeling off the stickers and shove something in the usbs to see if they work. Nothing to loose I guess, except for a cheap flash drive or other usb gadget. Don't plug anything real valuable in, till you find out if they work. You can always put a piece of tape back in place if the sticker turns out to be important.

9020 motherboard has totally different chipset and I/O Adding a 9020 panel does not produce the ports on the motherboard.

Aye Sir speedy, and Dell 790 s cannot recognize and use 8GB memory modules.
Because the dell bible sayeth no.
Sometimes your bible is wrong, sire.
