Dell Optiplex 3050 Micro power supply adapter

Hi,

my first post here, hopefully i wont write mistakes.

I own an inherited Optiplex 3050 Micro,

It came with a non genuine power adapter, the prev owner covered the spec of adapter with a sticker, so the actual adapter is 19v instead of 19,5, very nosense.

I have a bios alert that showed "the ac power adapter cannot be determined etc" and cpu-z shows cpu speed at 798mhz.

So obviously I need a new power adapter.

I m looking for it in second hand market. Budget and ethic reason.

Mine supposed to be 19,5V 3,34A 60W I read somewhere that is ok, or sometime suggested, to have a 90W, for example if the pc have to deliver many power for example for usb devices, wlan card etc. cause the 90W would be the max watt available absorbed by the pc.

I m correct? is safe or even suggested?

Can i connect any power adapter that have 19,5 V65W (or 90W, 130W) with the right pin connector (4,5mm), designed for 3050 micro or even if was designed for a dell laptop or other Dell devices or form factors?

Can you provide the model name of every genuine Dell Ac compatible? (if I check from website and my device i only get one P/N but I guess i can use more Ac adapters as I asked before.

Lets suppose  I find an advert with the correct PN (or model name) , it would be an univocal 4,5 pin connector or it could be also made with the same PN but 7,4 connector size?

I m writing from Italy, Eu plug.

Thanks in advance

This is a Dell PA-12 power adapter -- widely used in older Dell notebook computers.

Because this is essentially a notebook computer in a micro desktop case, an OEM power adapter is essential.  If a new adapter doesn't solve the problem, the issue is likely with the DC jack in the system.  Unfortunately, unlike most notebook computers, the jack is soldered on, so it's not easily replaceable -- so if the adapter isn't the issue, a replacement mainboard would be needed.  Fortunately, these are inexpensive ($30 and up_).

As Ejn already mentioned use original adapter is safest bet. The fact your bios can detect a wrong adapter is saying DC jack is probably intact.

@ejn63 thanks for the reply.

Unfortunaty the adapter you sent is not compatible as I stated, my pc need a 4,5 tip connector as the adapter you shared.

I m pretty sure it s just the adapter.

@redxps630 i was expecting your reply ahaha :) thanks for your reply

So yes, I said myself I m looking for a Genuine Dell second hand. Never said compatible.

But I m open to use Dell adapters not designed for this specific device but actually working well.

What about 90W and 130W models?

Do you know the model name instead of part numbers? (Should be univocal too?)

You can get a second hand genuine adapter for 15 I think on eBay us if that meets the budget and ethical concern. https://www.ebay.com/itm/226077209939?

You can experiment w other Dell 4.5 mm 65w adapter but it cannot be too different.

by a quick search I see 3070 Micro shares two identical adapter w 3050.

but 3090 adapters are totally different part number even though still 65w 4.5mm.

while Call center support told me that part number: MGJN9

I think the 3040, 3050-60-70 Optiplex are of the same gen LGA1151.  The 3080-90 are LGA1200, the 3000-7010-20 are LGA1700.  So as long as adapter is from the same Optiplex gen they share adapters.

quick search confirms 3040 use same adapter as 3050
