Dell Optiplex 780 Will Not Boot Up

The Dell Optiplex 780 freezes up during bootup. I first got the error IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and when I went into Diagnostics I received error code 2000-0152. It kept freezing up on CLASSPNP.SYS so I renamed it to CLASSPNP.OLD and now the network lights and lights 1, 2, and 3 are solid green.IMG_20180404_134510.jpgIMG_20180404_134504.jpg

MrAllanson,

The error code 2000-0152 is a disc drive error says that the cdrom is faulty. The led diagnostic codes error 1,2,3 represent the information below,

Another failure has occurred.
  • Ensure that all hard drive and optical drive cables are properly connected to the system board.
  • If there is an error message on the screen identifying a problem with a device (such as the floppy drive or hard drive), check the device to make sure it is functioning properly.
  • If the operating system is attempting to boot from a device (such as the floppy drive or optical drive), check system setup to ensure the boot sequence is correct for the devices installed on your computer.

The CDROM was in place. I reloaded Windows 7 SP1 on the computer and I updated the drivers and chipset. It stayed on for a little while then I got another BSOD. Error code 0x0000007E.

I took out the RAM modules and wiped off the contacts and then re-installed them. I also re-installed Windows. I picked up the available Windows updates and then I picked up the driver and chipset updates from Dell Support. I played a DVD and it ran for about an hour and then it went to BSOD again. I saw a quick message that said something like "Trying to execute non-executable memory."

Wait so it booted installation? I couldn't load windows installation at first either, try BIOS setting the DVD drive to the first in boot sequence... or just untick (uncheck?) every boot device except DVD drive AND HDD... then i was able to install win7... and if that doesnt work then something like hard drive went corrupt? or if no BIOS access, your mobo prob went bad. It might not even be worth fixing, just try to salvage important data in the HDD and get some new pc.

ACTUALLY if it is memory (ram) then it is fairly cheap, try installing some other memory

I cant find the exact post to how to set sequence CDROM first on the 780... but this YT vid shows it pretty good.. but a completely different bios
