Dell Optiplex 780 wont boot

Question

Hi Everyone

I have a older Dell Optiplex 780 device that will not start. I have replaced the power supply and it still doesn't start.

Nothing happens when I press the front panel button.

If I press the button in the power supply the computer sounds like it is booting, but when I let go the button the machine turns off.

Any idea's why this is happening

replace cmos battery w a new one then clear cmos settings by mobo jumper.

I recently got done refurbishing 3 of these systems.  The power button has a little plastic piece that pushes on the actual power button inside the case.  You have to kind of bend that piece so it makes better contact.
