Dell Optiplex 9010 DT SSD upgrade
OptiPlex 9010
Hello,
I am looking into upgrading the old HD that is in this computer to a SSD. Don't need anything big, just faster, 256k ish... From another article I read a 256gb SATA III 6gb/s 3D nand flash 2.5" is a compatible drive for my PC, is this correct? Would I need to order anything with that, cables etc., mounting brackets? I would like the PC to boot from this drive. Any help, recommendations would be appreciated!

You will need to check inside your system for unused cables available. New SSD needs one power cable and one SATA cable. If the small caddy is not available, the SSD can be tugged or tapped to chassis. See example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0S8H0NF5NlQ
Operating system can be new installation or cloning from existing drive, depending to your current situation.

besides chino advice, you can probably just reuse the sata power and data cables from your old HDD to the new 2.5” ssd, assuming you are uninstalling the old HDD first.
