Does this pc have an add in SATA/RAID controller PCI express card? open up the case to take a look. If yes then the answer is on the card.

I think it is ICH8R.
It is not ICH8M or ICH7M because M stands for mobile.
ICH7 is older and used in Pentium. Intel began to use ICH8 in core 2 duo based platform. 980 uses 1st gen core LGA1156 which is immediately after core 2, so should be ICH8R.
