GX520, Memory Upgrade
I've got an older Optiplex GX520 SFF with BIOS A11, currently running with its original Celeron D 346 CPU (3.06 GHz) with FSB 533 MHz. I've seen a variety of prior answers regarding what might be possible in terms of upgrading the CPU, so would like a definitive answer, if possible. I know the machine is a functional antique but it works well and if I can get a bit more performance, that would be great.

Message title should read "CPU Upgrade" not "Memory Upgrade."

Specific upgrade is PENTIUM D 915 MAX.
Pentium D requires Copper Heatpipe heatsink.
The 520 is crippled you should consider a 620 or better.
The 620 can go up to PENTIUM D 960 with a MINI TOWER.

Anything higher will HALT with Unsupported processor.
BIOS MUST BE UPGRADED TO A11 BEFORE changing CPU.

Thanks. While I appreciate that the GX620 offers more options, I'm limited to the GX520.

The 520 has 2 ram slots removed and therefore its not upgradeable.
The X16 video slot is also removed.
The max ram on a 620 is 4 gigs 4 slots 3.5 useable
the max ram on any 520 is 2 gigs 2 slots 1.5 useable
End of story.
