What box? The bios has the true ID. The 380 is ancient released in 2005. The 780 is not much better released in 2010. Neither one is worth upgrading. You will not find parts to upgrade with such old models. Sounds like you might have some upgrades already if it's running windows 10. That might explain the discrepancy between the box and computer. The upgrader might have swapped boxes. Check the service tag in the bios (not the one on the box) at Dell support--not here in the forum since that is private info that cannot be posted. There are 4 diff models of the 780--see this for the manuals--

Use it as is until you can buy a new computer.

Hi @Mary G,
While it's easy to have a thing against older computers, if you check, and keep checking, sites like Walmart.com and eBay, you'll find that series of Optiplex's - 755, 760, 780, etc. are still being sold as used and refurbished. Refurb only, besides any new, at Walmart.com. It's not stated how old they are, just the positive attributes. I'm glad @Fazfoxy1 has a 780 and not one of the more limited 300 series.

@Mary G,
Not finding parts to maintain or upgrade "such old models" is incorrect. Once again - eBay. The aforementioned series of Optiplex's are still very common. If a 755 or a 780, for example, isn't maxed out already, they're still upgradeable notably if they have the 64-bit chipset; though not much upgrading can be done as compared to newer (not newest) Optiplex's. You're right though when it comes to the 300 series, little to nothing can be done to upgrade them.
Just remember 755's, and I imagine the other somewhat newer 700's mini towers, came with 305 watt power supplies. I can't speak for all 700's, but the 300's as you know came with a 235 watt PSU. That's in reference to posts referencing GPU's.
