Optiplex 3080 Micro Ram upgrade doubt

Hi,

I've an Optiplex 3080 Micro with 8 GB of RAM. The PC tools says it runs at 2666 mhz, but I've opened it and took a picture and it has installed a 3200 one, Kingston 8GB 1Rx16 PC4 - 3200AA - SCO - 12  is on the tag.

Now I want to add a second 8GB bank, if I go on the Kingston website it only suggests 2666 mhz ones for the 3080. Crucial has both 2666/3200 (different prices).

Should I put a 3200 one in or a 2666 will work the same since the PC doesn't run at 3200 mhz anyway?

Thanks for the help.

2666MHz is the spec for it.  Did you buy your 3080 refurb/used?

Another of the same stick can go into it, but it'll still run at 2666.  Mixing RAM specs isn't recommended.  This is for optimum performance and so that it doesn' throw an error code.

I know a 16GB stick isn't as cheap as an 8GB stick, but it's an option if you want to add it as the lone stick for 16GB total.
