OptiPlex 380 SSD support
Hey guys. I'm considering upgrading the HDD in my OptiPlex 380 to an SSD, but I'm concerned that the motherboard may not support it. I would have to use a SATA II connection as that is what the PC uses. Here are the specs:
BIOS Version: A07
Operating System: Windows 10 & Ubuntu 20.04
RAM: 4GB
CPU: Core 2 Duo
I'm also not sure whether the SSD would fit into the blue hard drive caddy inside.
Could anyone please advise on wether it is supported?

Not meant to give a choice of one, but here's my favorite: https://www.amazon.com/ORICO-Adapter-Mounting-Bracket-Interface/dp/B01LZWX6PD/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=orico+ssd+adapter&qid=1588039324&sr=8-3
I've used it. It still has to go in the original blue HDD caddy. It's designed so that the blue tab that hangs down from the front of the 3.5" blue caddy doesn't get in the way of the connections. I tried one of other plastic adapters and it didn't work. Aforementioned tab was in the way.
As for the $1 adapters, those I don't know about.
Hi @donm4599x, If user has Win10 32-bit, then we know 4GB is the max for RAM anyway.

Probably will work. Sata devices are compatible with earlier generation ports. The motherboard will just see another sata drive. Even connected to sata II port, it will still be faster than a hard drive. More memory might help too. I'm surprised you can run win 10 on 4 GB.
The blue drive caddies are probably for 3.5" drives, but there are tons of adapters available (look on ebay). Some of them let you put two 2.5" devices in the 3.5" bay.
I bought a couple of plastic adapters on ebay for about $1, but ended up not using them. Looks like they would work fine tho.
Some folks just zip tie the drive in a convenient place. It will work, but be careful that you don't put lots of pressure or bend the ssd.
