Optiplex 7010 - SATA port not working
So I recently purchased an SSD and wanted to swap it out for the optical drive that is already in my computer. After removing the optical drive, I tried the SSD and it didn't show in file explorer. No bother. So I tried putting the optical drive in, and that did not show on file explorer either. I also tried looking at bios and still nothing (only shows the HDD, and the other 2 sata ports as empty).
I believe it is the data SATA cable that is not working, as when I have the optical drive in now, I can see a green light on the front and I can eject the disk.
Any tips? Are sata cables likely to come out / break, or could it be a different issue I am missing entirely?
I tried moving it to another port (a SATA 2 port). The optical drive showed up in the bios. When I got into windows, no drive in file explorer. I then tried the SSD again, and that was not in the bios. On trying the optical drive again, not in bios either!
- I have tried another, new cable to no success.
Computer is a Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF

Change bios>SATA operation to AHCI. Save changes. Restart. Dell default is RAID.
odd should connect to white sata port on motherboard because that is a slower sata1.0 port. Connect ssd to black or blue sata port.

I have it set on AHCI, still no luck. I have tried two different cables on the port. Is it possible the port is broken?

Enter bios, make sure all the sata ports are enabled. If after this, still not detecting device on sata port, try replace cmos battery and clear cmos settings by motherboard RTCRST jumper.
