OptiPlex 7010 SFF - USB Hub Quantity?

OptiPlex Small Form Factor Plus 7010

OptiPlex Small Form Factor Plus 7010

I have a new OptiPlex 7010 SFF i7 with the optional C-type USB/Video connector daughterboard installed. When I run the NirSoft program USBDeview, I can see there are two hubs in the PC, Hub #0001 and Hub #0002.

When devices are installed, they always show up in Hub #0001; nothing ever runs Hub #0002.

I have a USB 2.0 intensive audio interface device that needs to run in it's own hub. How do I direct my device to access Hub #0002?

What "intensive audio device" do you have.  Most recording interface units can have problems with external USB hubs but not with PC USB ports.  I currently have a MOTU interface and it works equally well on any rear or front panel USB port.  Low latency and no dropouts.

Thanks for the reply. I'm using the RME UFX II interface. It will work fine for a while, then I get a FIFO error on the USB stream. Increasing the sample buffer size doesn't help.

To be clear, I'm not using an external hub; what I'm seeing with USBDeview is two integral hubs on the motherboard, but only one is being used.

I thought installing the USB-C port would allow access to Hub #0002, but it's coming up as Port #0011 on Hub #0001. I want to know how to access the built-in Hub #0002 and ideally restrict it's use to the UFX II.

Sweetwater lists this unit as USB 2.0 interface.

I wonder if its something else in the PC causing problems rather than what you are seeing.  I have a Dell laptop I used for on site (e.g. live concert) recording.  I thought I had it cleaned for recording but found I was getting a dropout every 9 minutes (finally corrected).

Have you run Resplendence Latency Mon to verify the PC is clean?  This is the first step.

BTW, Dell lists the 7010 as "End of life".  Documentation has a 2015 date.  I didn't see any reference to the second USB hub.
