Optiplex 7010 with 3 monitors

I've got 3 monitors plugged into my 7010 - two of them work fine but the 3rd one although showing fine in display settings is not active and it doesn't work. I found that it doesn't matter which port the monitors are plugged into - it will always keep one of them inactive. Interestingly, although I can see 3 monitors in the Display Settings (one of them as inactive) in the HD Graphics properties I can only see two, HD software doesn't see 3 monitors - again it doesn't matter which ports I plug them in, It always sees just two. I thought 7010 supports 3 monitors? It does have 3 video outputs (2xDP and 1xVGA). Does anybody know what's going on? Thanks!

7010 iGPU is of 3rd gen Intel core cpu which has Intel® HD Graphics 4000

it seems multiple users report trouble of HD graphics 4000 supporting three independent monitors, although intel says you can do it since you have two DP ports.

For the following graphics products:

  • Intel HD Graphics 4000 of 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors

The following configurations support three independent displays:

  • If two of the displays are DisplayPort monitors
