Optiplex 7060 Mid Tower amber light problem

Question

My optiplex 7060 MT has had some issues over the past few days, it used to have a steady amber light but then it switched to 2 blinks then 1 and then now it doesnt even turn on or anything and i tried getting a new power supply but it hasnt changed anything, is my motherboard damaged? And how can I fix this?

The 2 , 1 blink indicates a failed CPU. In the slightly older Optiplex series it can also mean a motherboard failure.

See the diagnostic lights table below. Two amber lights was indication of bad motherboard. The following white LED state would help to determine system state. Since you had ruled out power supply, it could highly be a bad motherboard. A new board can be had for around $30 USD. Verify the part number for compatibility.

@Chino de Oro​ the thing is now not even an amber light pops up so I dont really know my problem, do you know anytjing about that? Maybe the motherboard got totally fried or smth

@JOcean​ i dont think it is a cpu failure since it would boot up but then fail, but now the light doesnt even blink or do anything

@Aaronzuhn​ , you had indicated that there were 2 amber lights before the system went completely dead.  All I could do were gathering information you provided and giving the suggestions that may resolve the issue. My previous comment was included a link to new motherboard for replacement.  Verify the sticker on your current motherboard to see if it has a matching part number and decide for yourself if you want to replace the board.

@Aaronzuhn - Are you sure the replacement PSU is compatible with this PC model, is correctly connected and actually works?

I'd run the BIST on the PSU. From the pics in the setup guide your PC has a PSU status LED on the back below the power cord socket, but not a PSU test button. Either way the link (above) provides instructions to run the BIST on a PC with or without the test button.

Before giving up on the MB, try changing or test the 3v size 2032 battery and do a BIOS reset.

Granted the PSU is the correct one, bad MB is likely. Can also check for the possibility of bulging capacitors (unlikely with newer design) or if anything shows signs of getting too hot.
