Optiplex 7080. Thunderbolt 3 card
OptiPlex 7080 Tower
I want to connect my pc to a docking station. Does the Dell Thunderbolt 3 card work with my pc. If not then what other options are there. The docking station is Lenovo thunderbolt 4.
If the thunderbolt 3 card can work with my pc, where can I purchase and what is the cost

Thanks for the suggestions. Is the ebay one the same as the one on the Dell page? The ebay one seems to require a header on the motherboard and I think the one on the Dell Page requires an external cable that connects from the computer display port to the pcie display port input. Is this one the same https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166537783368?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=hG_AXTZJSfW&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=rBLxRRCnTR6&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I cant find the support page or the manual for the card. Can you provide a link to the manual
Are all thunderbolt 3 functions supported specially 2 HD monitors. My intension is to be able to connect my current recording studio setup to my laptop but also retain the existing functionality for my Optiplex desktop when not using the laptop - USB sound card, 2 DP monitors, Native Instruments USB music keyboard and and Native Instruments USB Maschine drum/sample player

SKU number: 555-BEOX kit contains the card (p/n# P1XY1, CRD,NTWK,I/O,PCIE,TBT3,FH,V2) and cable (p/n# H71G3, ASSY,CBL,DP1.3,TBT3/USB3.1,D8)
Add-in cards on the newer Precision systems that support Thunderbolt (xx20,xx30) don't require a GPIO cable/header. All that is required is the card and a DisplayPort 1.3 to Thunderbolt 3/USB 3.1 Cable (usually supplied with the card).
Part number H71G3 =
13" DP to DP pass through cable used in conjunction with the add in Thunderbolt 3 I/O card DP and video card DP
555-BEOY sales SKU, 7XY5K part number $70 =
Dell Thunderbolt 3 PCIe card (DP1.3/USB Type-C/USB Type-C)
Sub part P1XY1 PCIe Thunderbolt 3, Network
Sub part H71G3 cable

No manual in public, but according to the internal documentation. The only thing to try is test a USB Type-C device on the TB3 card’s USB Type-C port. Open the Device Manager, connect a USB Type-C device and cable to the cards USB Type-C port, watch the Device Manager to see if a "new" device is found.
The TB3 add in card is essentially meant for high speed data transfer.
It can also be used as a bridge to connect a video card DP to a monitor that has USB-C port only.

Many thanks.
I think I might be wasting your time! I had a look at the Optiplex 7080 system board and it doesn't have a thunderbolt socket. It has a socket labelled "video" and another labelled "type C". When I go to the bios there is no reference to Thunderbolt. I am guessing my only option would be the USB C alt mode card but my understanding is that it only supports one monitor.
Can you confirm if my understanding is correct.

the Dell TB card goes into a PCIex4 slot. you do not need a TB socket on mobo to support this card. simply connect your compatible device to the card's USB C port for high speed data transfer, after the card shows up in dev mgr (you need to install the Dell TB driver for 5080).
