OptiPlex 755, BIOS update not working?
Hello there.
I am trying to update my bios to revision a22 from revision a11, I have created a bootable usb drive with all of the necessary files, and when i select my bootable flash drive, and put in the proper commands in the command prompt ie: cd locale/LOCALE> O755-a22, it restarts as it should, and then appears with an error saying,"firmware image not detected in memory." Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
Operating system: windows 10
Computer: Dell OptiPlex 755

I suggest you try a12 or whatever is directly next.
I'm pretty sure this is a non-UEFI system, so you might need to do it like this:

You must use MSDOS floppy or Install XP on a hard drive and run as administrator.
USB flash drive booting is not supported.

Yes, both Rufus and FreeDOS's full-installer are used. If you comprehend the directions, not sure why you asked that.

SOLVED!!
apparently bios update is cleared from memory during reset. it depends on memoty type and even the varies from slot to slot. In my case I had 2 x2gb memory sticks and 1 gb memory stick. Bios update only worked when only the 1gb stick was in and only in slot number 3!!!
I first updated to a19 and then to a22 but i am not sure that is necessary. After upgrade I reinstalled all memory sticks,

if F12 update bios is missing, (me guessing 13 years ago yes? 2007 PC it is , in dog years.99 and is a dog, for sure.. core2, Q35 jive box.
then
run DDDP dell DOS
https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/sln143196/how-to-create-a-bootable-usb-flash-drive-using-dell-diagnostic-deployment-package-dddp?lang=en
for sure works ! and for sure safe, 100% safe if using UPS AC on line.
Dell DOS run it , it works, no need for rufus and silly freedos and lack of memory , EMM etc. pains. endless.
Dell DOS runs OOBE, for sure. works.
dell also says if you scramble the BIOS with bad burn, you will not get good F2 or F12 menus.
and you need to reflash to this

one can only hope 2007 dell pC can even boot to USB, port. stick but is in the BIOS PAGES that, if present.

dan that is so wrong. not told method my wild guess, using Freedos and fooled the EMM memory manager in freedos and fooled it in to working, why post lacking METHOD.
and is not solved you can;t tell the OP is problem is solved ok?
there are 5 ways if you read the dell pages, on upated bios.
dell lists them as LINUX ways, but means NOT WIndows , in truth. means F12 or DDDP.

or worse yet reading posts here, im off a BestBUY , begging for Floppy diskettes and getting hard ugly looks from the employees and for worse from close by customers, (hey old dude you just crawl out of a cave he said)
F2 works see this video, and so does it have USBOOT same video. 39seconds in, see USB controller
click F12, at time mark.1:10, see F12 works and so will Dell dos boot.
