Optiplex 755 SFF, upgrades

Hi, I have a dell optiplex 755 sff and was wondering if an intel core 2 quad q9550s would work.

It currently has an intel core 2 duo e6750 installed.

Hi Fangdom34,

Yes, the Q9550s should be fine. The 755 was validated by Dell with the Q9550 and the Q9550s is just the same but with lower power consumption.

USFF do not support quad core because the power supply is too small.  They also have different heatsinks.  Q6700 is the validated unit listed in the spec.

Hi, I am wondering if my psu would handle these upgrades:

Cpu: intel core 2 duo e6750 @2.66 ghz

Graphics card: new asus gt 710 2gb gddr5

Ram: 4 gb ddr2 800mhz memory (from 2gb)

Hdd is 7.2 rpm and optical drive is a DVD rom rw

I put these in a psu calculator and the wattage was around 240 watts. My psu is 275 watts.

CPU = e6750 is not on the tested/validated list. X697G E8600 3.33GHz, D306F E7300 2.66GHz
GPU = GT 710 should be fine
PSU = You could upgrade to the 305w T553C, XK376, P670F, HK595, NH493, XK215
Ram = 64-bit OS 8GB DDR2 667/800MHz, 32-bit OS 4GB DDR2 667/800MHz

But, this is an 11 year old PC. Might be time to put that money into a new PC.
