Optiplex 9010TW power supply

OptiPlex 9010TW mini tower. I want to install a graphics card (GeForce GTS250). I bought a 520w power supply. Before installing I want to verify that a standard, off the shelf, power supply is correct for this computer. In the past Dell had used proprietary PSUs and installing a standard one could cause damage. Thanks.

Standard is not a standard.  The 9010 does use EPS12v power supply.

HOWEVER you must have at LEAST 142W combined on the 3.3v /5v rails or its not going to work.

You MUST have at least 3 AMPS on the 5VSB rails or its not going to work.

Some units only have 2.5 amps on the 5vSB rail and only 130W or less on the 3.3v /5v rails.

There are units that work. HOWEVER the spec of WATTS is not a method for figuring out if a unit works or not.  Several 450W 500W 600W 650W 750W units from various vendors DO NOT WORK AT ALL.

Meaning from EVGA the 700B1 and 750B1 and 700BR all work fine.  B2 B3 BR BT BQ G2 N1 W1 versions from THE SAME VENDOR do not work.  100-B1-0700-K1

Corsair CX750M is also ok.

I believe I answered my own question. According to smps.us - https://www.smps.us/power-connectors.html

For years, Dell used the same connectors as in standard ATX, but wired differently (see the diagram to the right for the pinouts of their Pentium® II and III PCs, Precision 410 and Dimension 8100). As far as I know, except for Dimension 8100, beginning with Pentium® IV their systems use the standard pin designations.

So, "Standard" ATX pin outs appears to be the answer. Just in case anyone else needs to know.
