Optiplex MFF 7070 memory upgrade

I ordered a refurbished Optiplex 7070 MFF with an I7 -9700 and 8gb ram.

I want to install 16gb ram (I will not game at all). Do I have to buy a 16gb ddr 4 card or can I buy an 8gb card and add that? Is it likely that the machine I am buying has two 4gb cards in it already, so I have to buy a 16gb card?

I would hate to buy a 16gb card and find out I could have just bought an 8 at half price.

Thanks for any help

@komobu hi, you could review the order description, sometimes it discloses the composition of the memory.  Another resource is looking up the system original configuration if you have the service tag.  But the best option is to wait for your computer to arrive and verify what it was installed with.  The Optiplex 7070 micro uses laptop types of memory and have total of 2 slots.
