PC upgrade for Gaming
Hello everyone.
I have a Dell Optiplex 7010 MT (model DO9M) and i want to upgrade it into a moderate level gaming PC for my son.
Current specs are i3-3220, 4Gb DDR3 RAM, 500GB SATA HDD, PSU Dell 275W
We have selected the following additional components for PC upgrade;
+4Gb DDR3 RAM (1600),
GPU MSI Radeon 256bit RX 570 4Gb GDDR5,
PSU EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze 12V,
Please advice if this will work or else what would be the ideal budget upgrade config for moderate level gaming with this PC.
Thanks in advance
Regards

Sounds ok I guess. It's a tower model with some space inside, right?
I suggest you also get a bootable SSD for Windows, all apps, and a few favorite games.
Too bad it's just an Intel-i3 . It's only a dual-core (although it does have 4 threads). Well, SSD will help with overall speed.
I would suggest an Nvidia GTX-1050 or 1060 instead. It has PhysX that will help off-load some work from CPU.
Are you sure you don't have a use for this one in the office (as is) ... and just go ahead a buy him an Alienware Aurora (or custom build him something).

Optiplex 7010 Tech Guide
The tech guide also gives a list of quad core CPU's.
I don't know if you know - Make sure all RAM sticks are the same brand, capacity, and MHz. If using non-Dell memory, Crucial is recommended as it's guaranteed to work in Dell's. Kingston Value Brand (KVR) almost never works. The volts can be off in off-brands.

Whatever you want. I don't really keep-up with AMD these days.
