simple problem.

do not use adapters, or if you must, you get to try all brands to find one that works, many DO NOT or only 1/2 way.

buy GPU card that does what you want, and need. end story. (all things grapich connected to just it)

the olden days of just VGA or just DVI is gone.

things are not this simple

you do know that simple adaptors are just wires right called passive. case in point, DVI to VGA.

but the others are all ACTIVE and use  chip inside.

and what video card you use matters too, some GPU card will not like adapters at all say DP to anything or HDMI to anything, due to the edid chip in the silly adapter is NO GOOD.

in your case HDMI to VGA.

is very complex, way,  the screens edid (PnP info chip) must tell the converter chip you have(adaptor)

that the screen is ok, and the converter then must lie to the PC using its own edid chip, tell  your HDMI port all is well, and yours did not.

the HDMI port also has  weak power pin, 50mA limit that many adapter chips fail to run lacking more power.

the best HDMI adapter (here is  your big  hint) needs USB cable too , that steals up to 2amps off the USB port.

the DP port has more power and works way better converting to other things.

that was the long;short answer.

the real answer is you adapter is junk, as most are. for sure used on all HDMI ports on earth.

the cure is simple , or not, try endless adapters

or buy a real GPU card that does work. vast exist and all work if certified for dual monitor support.

in school (electronics) the first lesson is what, POWER, no power the chips fail or if weak or noisy fail you will.

learn that first the we can do this next DATA> HDMI is digital only and VGA is analog only. (a big conversion!)

the PnP edid chip can be scanned to see if it fibbing,  easy as pie if you have  the APP I have.

here it is.

RECAP, hit points .  the magic of HDMI to VGA convertion and pit falls.

  • Power, is first, the chip does not get 5vdc/3.3v, and fails. HDMI ports are weak on pin 18! a fact and spec.
  • if  power fails 2 chips fail, eDid info and the converter chip, both fail.
  • If this all works the conversion will work if the PCs HDMI driver does not get confused with odd ball eDID date info sent to it.
  • the adaptor Edid must lie to the PC so that the PC thinks HDMI is working, and is really NOT.
  • the iron clad fix is learn to buy 1 good GPU card and use that, end the pains of adaptions.
  • BTW, my box of adapters is huge, I have them all. will one of each that actually works. right. (no small task)

Hello,

We cannot afford to buy a multitude of adapters. It turns out that other models from last year’s 3060 without a DVD player worked perfectly with HDMI adapters. Is there a fix please?

Thank you

other models from 3060 works,?

what does that mean?

when posting for any PC tell OS, you did, and exact model 3060   MT, SFF, Micro (it's 3 PCs not one)

then tell what GPU cards used, if any do not leave this out and is always the best way for DUAL displays.

the mother boards on 3060 are NOT all the same,  you do know that right? I bet not.

all 3, class 3060 the (iGPU ports (onboard) have HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2 ( OOBE) lacking GPU upgrade.

the MT is the wide case PC and uses, cheaper nd more choices of GPU cards, high profile 120mm tall cards

not the lame 79mm cards that make cost rise. and limit choices.

here is one example. a good choice of card for you is DP +DVI, DVI-- to VGA is simple passive adaptors and work always.

HD4550 seen here for  $10 delivered is that expensive?

even less $ that any lame converter, far better, if resolution is ok, no stated performance needs,? speed matters.

why not post rear of PC photos so we can see what you see,  YAH!
