Product code of a 3.5 " HDD plastic bracket for OptiPlex 7090 Tower CTO

Hi to all,
I’d ask a question in order to know (I really hope that someone can give me an answer) the product code related to the blue plastic bracket suitable for fixing a 3.5" internal hard disk on a new computer OptiPlex 7090 Tower CTO that I purchased on July 27, 2021. This is because I’d like to add a classic 3.5” hard drive for the data (the PC is equipped with a M.2 512GB PCIe NVMe Class 40 Solid State Drive).

Through the Dell telephone support, I already purchased a 3.5" hard disk bracket at the beginning of October but once I received the package, I found that this bracket is different from the one shown in my PC service manual. From the conversations I have had with the Dell support, it would seem that it isn’t so easy for them to identify the exact 3.5” HDD bracket model for my PC (OptiPlex 7090 Tower CTO).

The bracket that was sent to me has product code 5M0XF; through a post in the Dell Community (of another user), I saw that it’s a 3.5" hard drive bracket for an Optiplex XE3 SFF PC and therefore for another model of computer.
Up to date, I didn't opened the case of the computer for a visual check as I'd consider this operation useless.

I really hope someone can provide me with the right product code (to be able to provide directly to Dell support, that I need).
Below, respectively, the bracket I need for the computer I purchased and the bracket I received.
Thanks to anyone can provide me with useful information.
Best regards
Massimiliano

Hi Redxps630,
you are right, the OEM product code of the part corresponding to the pure 3.5" caddy is probably IB5IR9N00-600; as you specified, Dell might have another one corresponding.
In any case, the plastic caddy model actually looks the same as what is shown in the service manual of my new PC (PC OptiPlex 7090 Tower CTO). So the piece it would seem to be the same.

Reguarding the metal cage showed on E-bay (second link that you sent me), it would seem slightly different from that showed in the service manual of the PC even if, at the moment, I cannot be so sure. I’ll see what to do.
For your information, I’ve dealt with Dell's Italian Sales Office as I live in Italy (near Milan).

Hi Paventhan,
OK for clarification; yes, the community cannot know the Dell spare parts available for specific countries (I'm writing from Italy). Anyway you have given me some useful suggestions.
For completeness of information, through the Italian sales office of Dell, I ordered at the beginning of October both a bracket for a 3.5" hard disk (which as we know turned out to be incompatible) and a bracket for a 2.5" hard disk. The latter is correct, it's the same as shown in the PC service manual.

Thanks to all for the advice.
Now I'll see how to get around.
Best regards
Massimiliano

Hello Redxps630,
many thanks for confirming the information regarding the Optiplex PC models and for the research you have done for me.

Yes, I think I’ll buy on E-bay either the plastic bracket or the metal cage supplied with the plastic bracket; in the latter case, the product is also available as new (actually I’d prefer considering that the PC is new).
So, I hope I can resolve this issue.
Your help was decisive.
Thanks again.
Best regards

Massimiliano

I do not yet know the Dell P/N for this bracket, but I have been looking for a real picture of this bracket for a while.  It was first introduced in Optiplex 7071 MT and 7080 MT.

This is a hard to find part but I find it by pure serendipity.  Here it is on eBay.

Hi There,

We see that you have been looking to upgrade or add a component to your Dell system, and also, your previous attempts to have this ordered through our sales team did not yield any satisfactory results. We really wish we could help you on this, however, from our warranty support team, we are unable to help you with the requested part details, this is simply because, we do not have the details of the spares availability and there availability in your region for you to order the same parts, and support is limited only to the technical point of providing resolution or fixes to any issues that you may be having with the computer, and for anything related to parts & upgrade, we can only redirect to our sales team. We hope you get to find your search through our sales team or through one of the community members.

-Regards,

Paventhan M

Hi Redxps630,
many thanks for the information and for the photos that you have proveided me.
Should you also be aware of the specific product code (of the plastic bracket), it will of course be welcome.
Thanks again for the helpful references you have given me.

I think the oem P/N is

IB5IR9N00-600

as shown on the back side of caddy.  Dell may have a corresponding DP/N for it. If I find out I will let you know.

not sure if your 7090 came with a 5.25 metal cage for the blue caddy.  If not you can buy the two together as shown in the second eBay link in US, but not sure if you are located in the US.

I am quite sure optiplex 7071, 7080, 7090 use the same 3.5” hdd caddy system.

If you already have the metal cage and just need the blue caddy, you can order it via the 1st eBay link I sent.

I have searched for bracket DP/N in several optiplex 7071 and 7080 tower with service tags that originally came with 3.5” 1 tb hdd.  None of these system spec mentions the P/N of a 3.5 hdd bracket, although this bracket is present in these systems.
