Raid on Optiplex 3070

Hi

HELP Needed with RAID

I have got a OptiPlex 3070 that I bought in 2019. This is the Mini Tower option so it has enough bays for storage and 2x extra HDD is supported and I was told it has a chipset that supports RAID (Intel H370).

It has a SSD drive and DVD drive when I brought it.

I have recently fitted 2 of 2.5in Hard Drives (Traditional Type).

I have installed the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology Driver Installation Software with Intel® Optane™ Memory. I was hoping to set up a RAID 1 array with the 2 newly installed SATA drives. I want this to be a redundant data disk separate from the boot disk which I want to remain on the SSD.

Unfortunately I can't seem to create the raid volume.

I have tried in Windows but although there is an option to create a raid volume, the next button is greyed out.

I have tried pre boot by pressing F12 then choosing device configuration but again the option to create a raid volume is not present at the top.

I can't think what else to do, I was led to believe by sales this would be supported but now I am stuck. Please help. I can provide screenshots below.

I wish it could be clearer what models support what options. Referencing this 2018 thread.

I spoke to Dell tech support as I have a OptiPlex 3070 and although it appears it supports raid, I can't follow any of these guides as the option to create the array isn't there.

I created a thread today on my system to see if I can get any help.

Hi

Is anyone able to help with this?

Intel support have told me that the way Dell have used the chipset it has left out the raid option.

This is really frustrating, surely there should be a bios upgrade / update.

See below:

This is Maikel from Intel Technical Department.

I am very sorry for the delay on our response, was not our intention to keep you waiting.

In regards to the status of the case, It seems to be a problem with the SATA Controller or even the BIOS locked for RAID configuration.

We need to make sure that you are running on RAID mode at bios level since we confirmed the chipset supports RAID volumes

Check for bios update that integrates an update for the computer Option ROM

Consult with Computer Maker for other ways to get this feature to work.

Here are the Optiplex 3070 manuals. All of the different Optiplex 3070 form factor Owner's Manuals discuss the BIOS -SATA Operation- RAID ON setting.
