Two amber + five white LED error code on OptiPlex 7050 SFF
My OptiPlex 7050 SFF recently started giving me the two amber, five white LED error code, and I am unable to fix it. So far, I have:
reset multiple sticks of RAM across each of the four memory slots
replaced the CMOS battery
tried booting with the CMOS battery removed to drain it entirely
held Ctrl + Esc on startup
mashed F2 on startup
moved the jumper pin across each pair of pins
attempted all of the above with and without the graphics card and SSD installed
Turning the sytem on with no RAM gives me the standard no-RAM beeps.
Turning the system on with the jumper connector on the CMOS Clear pins does not give me the LED blink code, but also doesn't solve anything.
The system is (was?) running Ubuntu, and I believe there was recently a BIOS update in the standard system software updater, but I can't be certain. Also, I believe the system was running okay after I ran that update, but also can't be certain of that.

That blink code indicates Invalid Memory detected Try using one stick of RAM only and see if it changes the error. Try that with each and every stick of RAM. I suspect you have a defective stick of RAM. Possibly the BIOS update did not complete properly, or the CPU is having a problem in the memory controller portion, or the MB could even be a problem with one or more of the RAM slots.

@JOcean Thanks for the reply. As mentioned, I have tried each stick of RAM across each of the memory slots without any luck.
Is there a way to reinstall the bios when the system is in this state?

@ElephantRock If you can boot into the BIOS, F2 immediately at boot, then possibly the BIOS can be updated. Assuming the system was working properly before this problem started, again it could be either a CPU and/or a MB problem. Can I assume that you are using the same RAM modules that worked before this started?
