That is it, the system will not power on at all. I figured this was due to the intrusion error. Before I opened the system everything was fine, then I let it sit for a week or two and not it gives me the error and won't power on at all (except for the message), which led me to believe that the issue was related. I will try re-seating the memory and processors tomorrow to see if that fixes the issue.

Hello tmcole

The intrusion error will persist until you clear the hardware log. You won't be able to clear the log until you can get into the BMC(CTL E). It doesn't sound like the intrusion error is the main problem. It sounds like the main problem is that the system will not boot/POST.

What happens when you turn the system on? Have you attached a monitor or DRACd in to see how far it is making it in the POST process?

Thanks

That sounds like a good plan. Something may have come loose. Hopefully there was not a static discharge that damaged something.

Thanks

Reseated the memory and both processors and nothing. Removed the CMOS battery and voila, it booted. Now it boots up and gets through POST fine, however it will not shut down manually (there is no OS on the server) - IE turning it off by the power button does not work.

Thanks for your help.

If you hold the power button down for about 10 seconds will it shut down? I would also try booting to a live operating system or installation media.

Nope, that is what I mean. It is almost like the power button isn't working. The server turns on by itself when the power cord is plugged in and the only way to shut it off is to remove the power cord. I can boot into Fedora fine, and when I shut down from Fedora, it shuts down. Then it will not turn back on without once again removing the cmos battery.

So the issue appears to be the power button isn't working at all. For test, I swapped in the front board (where the connector to the front panel plugs into) from another 2950 and no dice. The system will shut down when sent the signal from Fedora, however will only turn back on if you remove the power cables and plug them back in (IE giving itself automatic power on). The power button seems to do absolutely nothing at all. I've checked the connections and they look secure so I'm not sure what could be the issue unless it is a BIOS safety setting??

EDIT: I have checked the option in the BIOS and the power button is enabled. When I hold the button down for 10 seconds or so I get one long continuous beep.

In that regards I guess I have fixed my problem. Apparently the power button got bent upward on the control panel. I noticed this whens switching the control panel out from the other 2950. Bent it back into place and voila!

Thanks for all your help Daniel!
