Add a card, server won't POST
Hi folks,
I just bought a PE650 (little one) to run as an application server.
ServiceTag: 84JNN31
Anyway, I loaded Win2K Svr and a couple of apps on it w/o problem. I also purchased a PCI parallel port card. This was necessary because some applications still use a dongle on the parallel port to secure the license server. The new PE (to my surprise) has no parallel port. Thank-you Dell.
Anyway, that's not the point...
I install my PCI card and try to boot, but nothing happens. Literally, absolutely nothing. No POST, no beep, just deadsville.
I remove the card, and everything's fine again.
OK, so the obvious answer is that the card's not compatible, but can anyone help me out here? Is there a particular type of PCI card I need that will work? Are there some BIOS settings I can change to help me out? Does anyone have another idea for getting a Parallel port onto this server?
FYI I also just bought a PE2650 and it also has no parallel port, so it seems this is the way Dell is going. Dell - the whole world is not USB yet! My company makes HEAVY use of serial ports for communicating with boards for testing audio chips. PLEASE don't stop making serial ports as well!! (Ok, sorry, I said that wasn't really the point here....)
Anyway, if anyone can help out I'd appreciate it!
Dan

Yes, I got the solution - I needed to order a 3.3-Volt PCI card...a run-of-the-mill PCI card won't cut it.
The one I got is from Lava computer Mfg http://www.lavalink.com/

My laptop screen is the main monitor. I'm trying to connect a single Monitor through the HDMI port. And it's not detecting the monitor.
