I doubt any storage controller validated for the R610 would support online capacity expansion of RAID 10. A few of our really old PERCs supported it and our newer PERCs support it. I'm not aware of any storage controllers for an 11th generation system that would support it.

You can check the storage controller manual and the storage manual for OpenManage Server Administrator. A storage management application like OMSA is required to perform RLM or OCE operations on PERC6/7. Check the section in the manual for RAID Level Migration or Online Capacity Expansion. It should list the starting and target RAID levels and whether or not drives can be added or removed.

In fact, no controller for the R610 (PERC 6/i and H700) supports expansion of a RAID 10. Some have reported that is possible on H730 and above, but nothing older (based on LSI chipsets, which also cannot expand RAID 10).
