Adding Hardware to T620

Hi,

I have a T620 running Windows 10. Never had an issue.

Decided the other day to add a 2-Port USB 3.0 PCI Express Host Card. The T620 recognizes the card, so that is good. However, ever since I installed the card, the fans are running way higher.

I did some research, and from my understanding, there is no way to reduce the fan speed. The T620 recognizes a new piece of hardware and adjusts the fans accordingly. I get that.

However, I feel like that there should be a way to add hardware manually, you know, change some settings in the BIOS or what not, and make the "new" piece of hardware, part of the "standard" hardware. Something like that. Not sure if I am explaining it right?!

Hope someone "gets" what I am saying and has some input.

Thanks,

G

P.s. I read that the T620 by default should be as quiet as a Library??? Really now?

Hello

The iDRAC has power profiles for supported hardware. When an unknown device is inserted it profiles the device as best as it can. The feature you are requesting is available in 13g and 14g systems. It is not available in 12th generation systems like the T620. The feature is called third party fan response.

Thanks

Daniel,

Thank you for the reply and sorry it took me so long to reply back.

I understand that I cannot directly control the fan speed with my system. But I was hoping that there might be a "different" way of adding hardware, so the computer "thinks" the hardware was always there as opposed to just finding it and "freaking out". Does that make sense? Maybe adding hardware in the BIOS or what not and making it part of the system, instead of the system recognizing it as a "foreign" device???

Thanks,

G
