Brightness on R620 front panel lcd display

Hello,

This year we purchased 4 new R620 servers. We purchased 2 R620 servers last year. The two servers we purchased last year have a much darker front panel LCD than the ones we purchased this year. Is there any way to adjust the brightness on our two older R620's? The new 620's we recieved do have a newer BIOS version on them, so would that affect the LCD screen brightness?

Just looking for consistency in the rack. Not a huge deal but if we can make them the same that would be great.

Hi,

There was not a change to the LCD brightness in a BIOS update that is listed, but you could try updating the firmware to see if it changes. If you press the buttons on the older one does the backlight turn on and make it as bright as the new ones? No I pressed the buttons and it did not change the brightness. Though they are all R620 servers, the two with the dimmer LCD display are a year older. Did Dell change LCD manufacturers throughout the year?

I did not get a chance to update the BIOS yet. In fact I need to move these two servers in the rack but I am awaiting some longer 10gig twinax cables from another vendor to accomplish this move. When they are re-racked I will update them to the latest bios.

In the attached picture you see the newer one on bottom is so bright it washes out the camera on my iPhone 6 plus.

It looks like they did, based on your pictures, however I have not been able to vertify that, the part number didn't change.
